A partnership between the Windsor Chamber of Commerce, First Town Downtown and the Windsor Historical Society created Tour Windsor CT, a mobile website walking tour with historic sites, points of interest, restaurants, shops, and other interesting local businesses and attractions.
The Windsor Monarch Project in collaboration with Jane Garibay director of FTDT will be presenting a fun-sneak preview of the forecasted 2021 Windsor Monarch Project (WMP) Upcycled Planter Challenge at Thursday's August 20th Farmers Market. The challenge is a unique, 'green' event to engage residents to visit participating FTDT businesses and vote on the most creative planter display, proceeds of the event will go to maintain the WMP's Riverwalk habitats.
The call out to FTDT businesses for sponsorship will follow early 2021. A sign up sheet to match designers/artists/avid gardeners with a sponsor will be on hand, as well as the popular Monarch mobile mural for selfies-bring your best smile! An upcycled planter created by artist Suzanne Urban will be on display at The Bean, Betty Jo Davis founder of the Riverwalk Habitats will be on hand to answer questions and WMP habitat-garden designer Kate Lange who facilitated the educational program to raise Monarchs in local school curriculums will have a display on hand for market visitors. All three women are WMP co-leaders and Claudia Keeley is the administrative secretary. Come by and say hello!
