The inspiration for the panel discussion is the story of Herbie and Dorothy Vogel, who were able to amass a collection of over 4,700 objects of mainly minimalist and conceptual art, including sculptures, while living in a small New York apartment and working within a limited budget. Our panelists are area residents with an artistic bent and a passion for acquiring art. Come hear their stories, learn from their experiences, ask questions, and add collecting stories of your own. Free. The exhibition, which runs through October 29th, is a retrospective of the artworks by Mr. Cromwell, a Guyanese-born visual artist and adjunct art professor, who has spent most of his adult life in the United States. This exhibition highlights a selection of paintings, drawings and a variety of mixed-media works, some dating back to his early artmaking days in Guyana, all shown together for the first time. Exhibition hours through October 29th are Thurs. 6-8p, Sat. 10 – 4, Sun. 11 – 4. No admission charge. Panel discussion: Saturday, October 15 from 1 – 1:30. Free. Windsor Art Center, 40 Mechanic Street, Windsor, CT. 860-688-2425. www.windsorartcenter.org | |||||||
