Bonnie Waterhouse

Bonnie Waterhouse
Bonnie has lived in Windsor for 11 years now and always felt she was "coming home," though she spent the first 40 years of her life in Branford. She worked in the insurance field for over 30 years with increasing leadership roles during that time. She had the opportunity to travel a great deal in the United States and to England. Her interaction with agents, businesses, service centers and other locations provided her with the experience she needed to understand the needs of each segment of the business world. In addition, She became very involved in mentoring students in local school systems that the insurance companies partnered with.

Because of her different roles and companies she worked for, she was able to live in many different states. When she came back to CT, she fell in love with Windsor. It was what she always felt our "New England" towns were all about. Although by some she may still considered a "newbie", the town has been very good to her and her family. Her son and his family came to live in Windsor shortly after she did. They too believe the town is a wonderful place to bring up their children and they are also thankful for the help they've been given. “We have wonderful programs here in Windsor as well as a caring social services department”.

Bonnie started a non-profit here in Windsor, called Voices Against Lyme Disease CT. As president and co-founder, she has worked closely and partnered with the Windsor Health Dept in providing programs to town employees, public works and school classrooms regarding Lyme Disease and tick awareness programs. She participated in the Citizens Academy and found it was very helpful in understanding the departments and how the town handled the overall day to day workings of a successful town.

After volunteering at the library for a short time when she first moved to Windsor she was hired to work in Kidspace. After some time Bonnie was promoted to Director of Special Programming for children. A job she absolutely loves! In the past, she chaired the Youth Commission in town and is currently a volunteer for the Windsor Art Center.
