Truths and Myths of Collecting Art: Anyone Can Collect
On Saturday, October 15 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., the Windsor Art Center will present a moderated panel discussion, Truths and Myths of Collecting Art: Anyone Can Collect, in conjunction with its current exhibition, REFLECTIONS OF TIME: Celebrating 50 Years of Artmaking by Stanwyck E. Cromwell.

The inspiration for the panel discussion is the story of Herbie and Dorothy Vogel, who were able to amass a collection of over 4,700 objects of mainly minimalist and conceptual art, including sculptures, while living in a small New York apartment and working within a limited budget. Our panelists are area residents with an artistic bent and a passion for acquiring art. Come hear their stories, learn from their experiences, ask questions, and add collecting stories of your own. Free.
The exhibition, which runs through October 29th, is a retrospective of the artworks by Mr. Cromwell, a Guyanese-born visual artist and adjunct art professor, who has spent most of his adult life in the United States. This exhibition highlights a selection of paintings, drawings and a variety of mixed-media works, some dating back to his early artmaking days in Guyana, all shown together for the first time.

Exhibition hours through October 29th are Thurs. 6-8p, Sat. 10 – 4, Sun. 11 – 4. No admission charge.

Panel discussion: Saturday, October 15 from 1 – 1:30. Free.
