Northwest Park Concerts Present:

Guy Davis Acoustic Blues

The Northwest Park Concert Series will present New York Blues performer Guy Davis in concert on Saturday March 18 at 7:30 pm at the Northwest Park Nature Center in Windsor.

Often touted as a member of the new generation of country blues artists, Guy Davis is well-versed in the music's traditions. He plays solo acoustic music, which is drawn from deep within the African American musical tradition and so is not restricted to just blues but includes material from the Ragtime and Songster (pre-blues, i.e. folk) eras. Some may view contemporary blues as weak and pallid. Guy Davis is never like that. He has a power and authenticity which makes him sound as though he is in direct contact with the old masters. And, interestingly, his own compositions are so in tune with the tradition that they seem as though they were written after a hard day in the cotton fields.
His music and mesmerizing story-telling prowess that accompanies his shows has garnered Mr. Davis worldwide acclaim in just about every corner of the world, from coast-to-coast to Europe and even Australia and New Zealand.

Guy’s new album, Sonny & Brownie’s Last Train - A Look Back at Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry, is an homage to these two hugely influential artists, not only on Guy’s career, but to thousands of musicians around the world. Appearing on stage with Guy will be the Italian harmonica ace, Fabrizio Poggi who produced this recording.

The Northwest Park Nature Center is a smoke free, handicap accessible facility located in Windsor, Connecticut. For ticket information and reservations call 860-285-1886 or go on line at www.northwestpark.org. Proceeds will benefit environmental studies at the Park.
