Mushroom ID for beginners

What are those weird things that pop up in the woods after the rain? Are you mystified by wild mushrooms? Curious? Scared? Or do they make you hungry? Saturday, October 15th from 10:00AM to noon join a foraging family who hunt, photograph, identify, and eat the fungi in New England for a Mushroom ID for Beginners program. The three foragers are from southeast CT and members of the CT Valley Mycological Society, Connecticut–Westchester Mycological Association, and the North American Mycological Association. This program will dispel myths, teach how to safely identify mushrooms, and include a guided walk after the classroom portion. Bring mushrooms you find in your yard and we’ll use our newly learned skills to identify them. Free. Sponsored by the Friends of Northwest Park. Registration required. Northwest Park is located at 145 Lang Road, Windsor, CT. visit www.townofwindsorct.com or call 860-285-1886 for more information.
