Voting in CT, Then & Now
Please join us on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. for a very timely topic; transitions in Connecticut politics and voting laws over the centuries. Does it seem like the gulf between Democrats and Republicans is at an all-time high? Do you ever wonder why campaigning can’t happen inside a polling place? Or when women and minorities got the right to vote? Connecticut State Historian Walter Woodward will talk about key political regulatory laws and transitions occurring in Connecticut over the past four centuries, setting the stage for Agnes Pier from Windsor’s League of Women Voters and Windsor Registrars of Voters’ Karen Andrews and Anita Mips. Our local experts will discuss current elections regulations, how election days in Windsor have changed over the past few decades, and how national and state elections affect local elections and local budgets. After the panel discussion, plenty of time will be available for questions from the audience. COST: $6 adults, $5 seniors and students, WHS and LWV members $4.
