Why Now? Museums & Inclusion
Why should local history museums like Windsor Historical Society become more inclusive, and how can they do this? Join Jamal Jimerson, founder of the Minority Inclusion Project for a virtual discussion entitled Why Now? Museums, Race and the Road to Inclusion from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 18.

Learn about why, since the murder of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor last spring, it is so urgent for museums to become more inclusive places and more inclusive organizations. Jamal Jimerson will share the personal experiences that led him to found the Minority Inclusion Project and how he feels museums can stay effective and relevant in a changing world by aligning their values, based on equity and inclusion, with their practices.

Presented via Zoom, these programs provide opportunities to learn as well as to participate and share your own questions or stories. Advanced registration is required, program fee is $5- register at windsorhistoricalsociety.org, by email at info@windsorhistoricalsociety.org, or call 860-688-3813.

Mark your calendar for the next virtual history program as well!

April 15, 7 PM to 8:30 PM, Removing the Gates: How We Are All Responsible for Inclusion. With popular University of Connecticut historian, Dr. Fiona Vernal.
