The Festival includes activities on the green, a parade, and a 5K run and walk. The Windsor Town Green is packed with plenty of local entertainment - magicians, games, musicians, and family fun activities for all ages. There are also vendors with lots of goodies for sale. Civic groups and local organizations also have booths to provide information. There is also a beer garden. There is so much packed onto the Windsor Town Green that it is easy to see why thousands of people flock to Windsor every year on the third Saturday in May for Shad Derby Day. One of the highlights of Shad Derby Day Festivities is the annual Shad Derby Parade that marches through town from the High School to Capen Street to Broad Street and to an end at the Town Green in Windsor Center. The parade features many groups including the Windsor High School marching band, the Windsor Fife and Drum Corps, the Shad Derby Monarch and the Royal Court, the Shad Derby Queen candidates, first responders, school groups, sport groups, scouts, worship groups, and the list goes on.    | |||||||
